History of the Zabrze Steelworks

1782

The first mention of an operating forge near the current Zabrze Steelworks.

1850

Hrabia Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck, właściciel kopalni Concordia, założył warsztat hutniczy z prymitywną koksownią.

1852

The first blast furnace is put into operation, and the history of Zabrze Steelworks begins. Initially, the plant operated as a private enterprise founded by Count Guido Henckel von Donnersmarck.

1858

An iron foundry is launched.

1871

A water tower is built - it is the oldest one to survive to this day in Silesia

1872

Merger with the "Donnersmarckhütte AG" concern, where, together with the Concordia mine and coking plant, it formed a mining and metallurgical base successfully supplying products and services to general industry.

1873

Entry into the commercial register as the "Upper Silesian Joint-Stock Society of Donnersmarck Ironworks and Mines."

1922

Zabrze (then Hindenburg, 1915-1945) receives municipal rights

1927

Acquisition of the plant by Vereinigte Oberschlesische Hüttenwerke AG

1929 - 1932

Production of blast furnaces halted

1945

Establishment of the state-owned enterprise Huta "Zabrze", which played a significant role in the reconstruction of the country and the modernization of the Polish post-war industry, supplying machinery and equipment as well as hundreds of thousands of tons of steel structures for the Polish steel industry, coking industry and energy sector.

1991

Transformation of the state-owned enterprise named Huta "Zabrze" with its seat in Zabrze into a sole shareholder State Treasury company, Huta Zabrze S.A.

20.01.1992

The company is entered into the Commercial Register under RHB 7674 at the District Court in Katowice, 8th Economic and Register Division

11.02.1992

The Regional Statistical Office assigns the Company the statistical number REGON 271550549 in the system of identification for entities of the national economy

1993

The Tax Office in Zabrze grants the taxpayer identification number for VAT purposes of 648-000-03-38

1996

As of January 16, 1996, the Company participates in the National Investment Funds program, and as of December 23, 1996, a majority stake is sold to a private entity

1996

The Repair Division is transformed into the ZUTREM Company, and the Construction Division - into the EMBETEX Company

1997

Progress - a National Investment Fund - sells 33% of shares in Huta Zabrze S.A. to a Polish company called ALLY

1997

New Joint Stock Companies are established on the basis of branches and departments of Huta Zabrze S.A., including: Zakład Odlewniczy Metali Żelaznych i Nieżelaznych (ZOMŻiN), Zakład Budowy Maszyn i Urządzeń Elektromechanicznych (ZBMiUE), Zakład Urządzeń Dźwigowych i Konstrukcji Stalowych (ZUDiKS)

2007

Purchase of 100% of shares in Huta Zabrze S.A. by BSK RETURN, a Polish company based in Zawiercie
